The Many Faces of W.

The Moose fears that the President suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder.

The Moose may be flying in a crack team of Freudian Psychiatrists from Vienna to treat the President of the United States. This mammal fears that the nation’s chief executive is suffering from an acute psychological disorder.

On one day, his Administration excoriates those who argue for a withdrawal from Iraq. The next day, the Pentagon is sending out signals that they are embracing the notion. One day the Bushies sound like General Patton, the next day they resemble Michael Moore.

The Administration’s defenders are understandably confused. What is the Party line? Is it "stay the course" or "cut and run."? It appears that the Bushies are spooked by the plummeting polls. They have panicked and now the precipitous pullout may be inevitable.

Democrats must adjust to the new situation. Rather than focus on withdrawal, the Democrats should talk about a success strategy. The Administration may be moving to the “left”, and this provides the opportunity for the Democrats to move to the “right” of the Bushies on Iraq.

Smart Democrats need to ask themselves, "WWJFKD" - what would John F. Kennedy do? In 1960, he ran to the right of Nixon on the Cold War. Similarly, the donkey has an opportunity to judge the Bushies by their own standard rather than by Michael Moore's. At the end of the day, this Administration will be judged on whether or not Iraq becomes a stable democracy.

Seize this moment of MPD confusion!
