Prudent Planning

The Moose is pleased that the taxpayers are getting their money's worth.

April 15th is just around the corner. And the Moose is reassured that the Pentagon is doing what it's supposed to do.

According to Sy Hersh and the Washington Post, the Pentagon is preparing contingency plans to wide out Iran's developing nuclear program. And this is news?

Iran's mad leader has expressed a desire wipe out an American ally. Iran with nukes would be an immensely destabalizing force and a direct threat to U.S. interests. And the apocalyptic visions of Ahmadinejad about hastening the return of the 12th Imman should not be casually dismissed.

While diplomacy is being attempted, who among us would take the military option off the table? This is an interesting moment for the anti-Iraq war left. Setting Iraq aside, they claim they are hawks concerning the war against terror. So why are so many of them aghast at the thought of Pentagon plans to deprive Iran of her nukes?

Do the new Iran doves really believe that the mullas will comply absent a military threat? Hopefully, Teheran receives its New Yorker subscription or reads Sy's piece on the internet. Maybe the mullas will have second thoughts about owning nukes.

It would be a good thing if Ahmadinejad believes that the American President is a Texas cowboy who might even deploy a tactical nuclear weapon to destroy Iran's holocaust-enabling nukes. Make certain that the mullas are on MoveOn.org's list serve!

Meanwhile, the Moose urges the Pentagon to keep on planning...
